About
Yoga is SO much more than fancy poses or flexibility.
And YogiWino is so much more than YOGA & WINE.
It's about merging mindfulness with fun.
It's about connecting with ourselves and with each other.

My Story

Sometimes life gives you a really loud wake-up call. Mine came in April 2014. And, it was more of a knock on the head, to be honest. After a 10+ year career as a bureaucrat, I'd returned to work following my first mat leave. To say the transition didn't go well would be an understatement.
Although I'd had a successful career that had been marked by the many incredible friendships I'd forged along the way, becoming a mom had taught me things about myself that I'd long-before forgotten. That I love to write. That I'm a creative wild-child. That I genuinely LOVE people and have an insatiable desire to help them. I knew I wanted to start my own business helping/coaching people, but still wasn't clear on how I was going to do that. And I wasn't quite brave enough to do it either. So, I went back to work and gradually felt more and more out of my element. Until, one day, it felt like the ground beneath my feet actually slipped away. Cue the burnout!
But, what felt like the worst possible period of my life, truly became the absolute biggest blessing. I genuinely believe that God or the Universe (or whatever bigger life force you believe in) broke me wide open on purpose. Becoming vulnerable like that opened me up to so many new life lessons and unexpectedly led me straight into yoga.
Together with my incredible family and the jewels that are my friends, yoga helps remind me who I am and why I don't need to be anything other than that. After all, that's the place where true joy is found. As a teacher, it's my absolute privilege to help you find your inner sanctuary too. And have a little fun while we're at it.
I'm so honoured to get to share this journey with you. We should grab a glass of wine sometime!
Cheers!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - Yoga @ the Vineyard
1. Is YogiWino about getting drunk and doing yoga?
Not at all.
In fact, yoga teaches restraint and balance, both on and off the yoga mat. YogiWino events allow guests (ages 19+) to sample a selection of some of our wineries’ finest wines, under the knowledge of a trained sommelier or wine professional. Should you wish to partake in more wine, it will be available for purchase by the glass.
YogiWino wants its guests to have a memorable night, but encourages you to drink responsibly (and plan a safe drive home if you are drinking).
2. What if it rains?
The events are held rain or shine, as each venue is set up to accommodate us in the event of rain.
3. I’ve never done yoga. Do I need yoga experience?
Absolutely not. In fact, my YogiWino events aim to introduce yoga to people who never dreamed of giving it a try or always assumed it wasn’t for them. I can relate to you!
I decided to become a yoga teacher having had very little exposure to yoga at all. I promise you that yoga will surprise you, and I would be honoured to get to introduce you to one another. Be not intimidated: a wee glass of wine will help with those first-time jitters. :)
4. What gear do I require?
I recommend a yoga or exercise mat. However, if you do not have one and cannot borrow one in time for the event, I always have extras on-hand that you can use free-of-charge. Don't forget your reusable water bottle!
5. The event has sold out and I missed out on tickets. Will more spots be opened up?
Because events are held rain or shine, our covered space at each venue dictates the number of advance tickets I can sell. Same-day tickets are released on the day of the event, weather permitting, at the following venues: KIN Vineyards, Smokie Ridge Vineyard & Vignoble Clos du Vully. Be sure to add your name to our waitlist via Eventbrite for any sold out event, and follow along on Facebook for notifications/updates.
6. Can I bring my young son/daughter?
YogiWino event participants must be 19 years of age or older.
You can always contact me to arrange for a private or group yoga class if you are interested in exposing younger loved ones to yoga. Call or email me to discuss pricing and availability.
7. What should I wear?
Dress comfortably and wear layers.
I encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel good: something that will allow you to move freely and unwind. I’ll be in my comfies all night!
8. What if I’m not flexible?
Honey, neither am I, by many people’s standards.
Yoga is about love and non-judgement, not flexibility, and the first person we need to show that love to is ourselves. The less flexible you are, the more room you have to improve over time!
I will suggest modifications in my classes to help even the newest yogis find the posture that meets them wherever they are in their yoga practice.
9. Will I get all sweaty?
Most likely. But, it’s really up to you.
Yoga is a deeply personal practice and I don’t want you comparing yourself to the person next to you. Yoga encourages us to stretch ourselves, but not beyond our comfort zones.
I will be leading a carefully-planned Vinyasa flow, but I encourage you to go at your own pace. If you are hurting or completely winded, pull it back a bit and make sure you’re listening to your body.
10. Can I make a reservation for a large group?
Absolutely! However, keep in mind that space is limited at each event. If the event you’re interested in has sold out, drop me a line and we’ll see what arrangements we can make to get your group its YogiWino experience.
